Tadashige was a woodblock printmaker who used a modern, creative style to draw urban and suburban scenes. Birds were included in more than thirty of these scenes, appearing simply as dark silhouettes in most pictures. Thirty-eight examples are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Tadashige’s use of dull colors and semi-abstract shapes would not likely appeal to picture viewers who expect art to provide an uplifting visual experience.
